In a statement issued at re/code, LinkedIn noted that Nishar joined LinkedIn when the professional networking site had just 30 million members, and under his watch the site grew to 313 million members. LinkedIn thanks Deep Nishar for his dedication over the years, and wishes him all the best as he embarks on his future endeavors.
Nishar's last day with LinkedIn will be October 3rd. He will be handing over the oversight for the product to the company's CEO, Jeff Weiner. Jeff has been with LinkedIn for almost as long as Nishar, having joined LinkedIn from Yahoo. Nishar issued a statement of his own, saying that he is passionate about building and leading companies which have the potential to make a significant positive impact on the world. He hopes that he will have the opportunity to do the same thing again at his next company.
What will he be doing in the near future? He has decided to take up an advisory role for now with the company just to keep up with things. He will not be doing any heavy lifting and will most like move onto another challenge down the road.
